Hardwick United States of America
Shinagawa International School

Our school has a proud heritage that dates back to 2007 in Shibuya and continues with our recent move to Shinagawa Seaside in June 2018 to accommodate our growth. As an IB Continuum School authorized to implement Primary YearsMiddle Years, and Diploma Programmes, we are committed to fostering the holistic development of our students. Our aim is to cultivate internationally minded individuals who champion global citizenship, empathy, and contribute to fostering world peace.

Within our nurturing, English-speaking environment, our students benefit from an exceptional 1:6 teacher-student ratio, a stark departure from larger, less personalized educational settings. Our spacious campus features expansive classrooms, a well-equipped gym, and an inviting playground, providing a balanced and enriching learning environment. Moreover, our proximity to outdoor amenities such as the Samezu Soccer Ground, Samezu Park, and Konami Sports Club further enhances our students’ experiences.

At SIS, our teachers design activities that empower students’ academic achievement and foster a love for continual learning, while promoting social development through mixed-age group interactions in the After School Program. We create an inclusive environment that embraces students’ diverse needs and backgrounds, offering personalized instruction through a high teacher-to-student ratio. Our curriculum follows the five essential elements of the International Baccalaureate—Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, Conceptual Understanding, and Action. With a focus on community, SIS encourages collaboration and open communication between staff, parents, and students, with active parent participation in various school activities.

Throughout the academic year, our calendar brims with diverse events, including International Children’s Day, Sports Day, Literacy Week, STEAM Day, Japanese Cultural Day, Celebrations of Learning, and our School Performance, fostering a vibrant and engaging school community.

Our collaborative ethos extends to our thriving Parent Teacher Association, which works closely with our administration to support our students’ journeys. Additionally, our After School Program (ASP) offers a plethora of enriching activities—from robotics and dance to swimming and karate—tailored to our students’ interests and held on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 15:15 to 16:00. Led by our dedicated SIS teachers and community members, these activities rotate to accommodate evolving preferences and resources.
